Ferrules
are the rounded cap connectors installed on one end of each spar that insert into the hub. The ball-shaped end seats securely into the hub socket and allows the frame to move and pivot during setup and takedown. If your spar itself is still intact and only the ferrule is damaged, you generally do not need to replace the entire spar. The ferrule can easily be replaced.

SHIFTPOD ferrules are available in two versions:
• SHIFTPODIII Composite Ferrule: The original black composite plastic ferrule used on SHIFTPODIII models.
• SHIFTPODX Aluminum Ferrule: The upgraded aircraft aluminum ferrule used on current SHIFTPODX models.

SHIFTPODIII Compatibility
• Both ferrule styles are compatible with SHIFTPODIII frames.
• If you are replacing a damaged ferrule on a SHIFTPODIII, you may use the matching black composite ferrule or the newer aluminum ferrule alongside your existing ferrules.
• If you'd like to upgrade all of the ferrules on a SHIFTPODIII, you will need 30 ferrules total.

Please select your preferred ferrule style when ordering.

Repair Instructions

Required Supplies:

  • Pot for boiling water
  • Pliers
  • Towel/Heat-Safe Gloves
  • Replacement Ferrule
  • Protective Surface (to work on while parts are hot)

Steps:

  1. Heat the Spar: Bring water to a boil. Submerge the ferrule end of the spar in the water for 8-10 minutes to soften the adhesive.

  2. Remove the Broken Ferrule: Carefully remove the spar from the water and use pliers to twist and pull off the broken ferrule. Use a towel or gloves to protect your hands.

  3. Install the New Ferrule: While the spar is still warm, insert the new ferrule into the end of the spar. Then gently tap the ferrule end on the ground to ensure it seats fully. No glue or adhesive is needed—the heat will help create a secure fit.

  4. Let It Cool: Allow the ferrule and spar to cool completely before using.

⚠️ Please use caution when handling boiling water and hot parts. Work slowly and protect your hands.
