Honoring Search & Rescue Volunteers

While you may have first discovered SHIFTPOD at a festival or an overlanding event, our shelters go far beyond the playa. SHIFTPODs and our red RESPONSEPODS are also used by many first responders and Search & Rescue teams operating in extreme environments.

Search and Rescue (SAR) are the folks who literally find you when you get lost, injured, or stranded in remote terrain. These teams operate year-round in mountains, snow, deserts, and backcountry areas, often in very challenging conditions. SAR volunteers respond day or night, in all weather, and frequently at great personal risk. They train continuously in navigation, rescue, and field medicine, all while donating their time and often using their own gear so others can make it home safely.

We are proud to see SHIFTPODs used by SAR teams during both training exercises and active missions. Our shelters have served as insulated base camps, medical and triage shelters, command and coordination spaces, and rest and recovery areas for volunteers working long shifts in harsh conditions.

Winter SAR Training at Mammoth Mountain

The 2026 Winter Search and Rescue Training recently wrapped up at Mammoth Mountain. Congratulations to everyone who successfully completed this demanding program.

This intensive winter training prepares responders for real-world rescues in severe snow, avalanche, and cold-weather conditions.

The program is supported by the Mono County Sheriff’s Office and the California Office of Emergency Services, whose work helps keep locals and visitors safe year-round.If you would like to support these efforts directly, we encourage you to donate through the official Mono County Search and Rescue site at monosar.org.

Giving Back

Supporting Search & Rescue is an ongoing commitment for us. For every 20 SHIFTPODs sold, we will donate 1 SHIFTPOD to Search & Rescue or emergency response organizations.

As a thank-you for being part of that effort, for a limited time, use code SAR100 to receive $100 off the SHIFTPODX Expedition.

To everyone who completed Winter SAR Training, and to the volunteers who show up when others need help, thank you. We are proud to support your work.

Stay safe,
Team SHIFTPOD
